Research Summary Rationalism is a philosophy of rationality based on logic. There are four forms of rationalism: mathematical rationalism, rationalism, religious rationalism, and epistemological rationalism. It believes that intellectual progress is the result of reasoning. Two types of logic are informal logic and formal logic. The educational objective of rationalism is to accept the reasoning or analysis of an idea, which is based on the truth of the argument. There can be many types of tasks, which rely on evidence-based selection methods. Rationalism opposes empiricism. Rationalism can develop problem-solving skills through scientific thinking and critical thinking. In this, the teacher can play the role of a decision maker and guide.
