This paper has tried to show what are the reasons behind the flood risk in different regions, what methods can be used to analyze the flood risk and its long term, what kind of problems can flood cause to any social group and what are the effects of flood on people from previously published research papers. The attempts made by various researchers to analyze floods using primary data, secondary data, various types of maps, various statistical methods, and remote sensing and GIS are shown, along with the impact of floods on people's lives, especially on their work, education, daily life, etc. Floods in various rivers in India are a major disaster.
