The fight for national freedom movement was not fought with the participation of men only, but women also had a great contribution in this great sacrifice. But they remained lost at the local level and could not get recognition at the national level. After independence, history is being written openly on them. Among the women who contributed to the national freedom movement, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Bi-Amma, Ajijan Bai, Jaddanbai (prostitute), Rani Jhalkari Bai and Udadevi Pasi (in the revolt of 1857), Durga Bhabhi, Rani Gaidinliu, Belamitra (niece of Subhash Chandra Bose), Manu Gandhi, Parvati Giri, Avantika Bai Lodhi, Aruna Asaf Ali (1942 mass movement) and other great women fought for the freedom of India despite the constraints of caste, class, society, religion, family, personal life etc. Today, our true tribute to the women who contributed to the freedom movement would be to keep alive their struggle and their ideal thoughts.
Begum Hazrat Mahal, Bela Mitra, Aruna Asaf Ali, Lalita Ghosh, caste, class, society, Gandhiji, struggle, unknown women, Allahabad
